Warranty Information

Gold Line

The following Ranger Communications, Inc.'s products are covered by a 1 Year limited warranty:
Amateur Radio Products: RCI-2950, RCI-2950EX, RCI-2970, RCI-2980, RCI-2990
Commercial - Business Band Products: All Models.
Voyager Rural Telephony Band Products: All Models.

The following current Ranger products are covered by a 2 Year limited warranty:
Amateur Radio Products: RCI-2950DX, RCI-2970DX, RCI-2980WX, RCI-2985DX, RCI-2990DX, RCI-2995DX, RCI-5054DX, RCI-5054DX-100, RCI-6300FHP, RCI-6300F-25, RCI-6300FTB, RCI-6300-F150, RCI-6900FHP, RCI-6900F-25, RCI-6900FHP, RCI-6900F-150, VR-9000.
Citizens Band Products: TR-100 Series, TR-296 ( all Models ), TR-396F, TR-696F, TR-696F SSB, All TR-900 Series, VX-129cn.

1. "Limited" means that we will repair problems that are caused by factory defects, only for the above mentioned products and time limit, at no charge. Work performed by qualified technicians which did not cause any damage to the radio will not void the warranty. Problems or damage caused by unqualified or misinformed technicians, operator abuse or other miscellaneous actions may be able to be repaired, but there will be a charge. This warranty is also limited to the radio only.

2. Generally, if the warranty sticker is removed or cut, the radio is considered to be "Void of Warranty". However, our policy is to be as lenient as we can, and to take this into consideration. We will usually repair the radio - under warranty - if no abuse or misuse is found. Radios that have parts removed, cut or clipped, or the PCB is found to have been "butchered" will not be repaired under warranty. Radios that have been modified will be returned to the original FCC type acceptance condition.

3. Radios sent in for repair under warranty, must have a dated proof of purchase enclosed.

4. For warranty repair, please follow the below directions:
    1.   Call Ranger Communications for an Return Authorization number (RA #).
    2.   Attach a letter to the radio being returned with a brief explanation of the problems you are having. Note on letter the RA # you received in step 1.
    3.   Place letter on top of radio.
    4.   If the radio is covered under warranty, you must enclose a copy of your receipt or proof of purchase - warranty covers manufacturers defects only. Radios that are under warranty will be repaired or replaced and shipped to you at no charge.
    5.   If the unit will not be covered under warranty, you may prepay by credit card - Ranger accepts American Express, Mastercard, Visa, and Discover. Be sure to include: type of credit card to be used, credit card number, expiration date and cardholder name within the letter. If you are uncomfortable about including your credit card information within the letter, please be sure to include a phone number where we can call to obtain this information. Ranger will also ship COD - money order or cashiers check only.
    6.   Carefully pack radio in suitable size box - shipping a radio safely to Ranger is the shipper's responsibility.
    7.   Using UPS or RPS, ship radio to:
         Ranger Communications,
         ATTN: Service Department,
         401 W. 35th Street, Suite B,
         National City,  CA.,  91950.

    8.   Prepay the shipping and insurance charges (shipping charges and insurance to Ranger are not covered by our warranty ).
    9.   Be sure to write the RA # plainly on the top of shipping box.

5. Ranger will perform the necessary repairs as quickly as possible and return the radio back to you with prepaid shipping if the radio is covered by warranty, otherwise shipping will be COD - money order or cashiers check only.

NOTE:

Ranger Communications, Inc. does not offer any other "Factory Authorized Repair Centers" except for the National City office. Any "Repair Center " claiming to be an authorized warranty repair center for Ranger is misquoting their position with Ranger. At the present, the turn around time is approximately 2 weeks, not including the shipping time.
There are, however, many technicians throughout the US who are knowledgeable and able to repair most of the problems which may occur, at a reasonable expense. If it is a minor problem, you may feel that the time away from your radio is not worth the "free repair" and opt for this choice.
